To repair a chip or hole that is larger than 1 inch, you will need:
For holes smaller than 1 inch, it isn’t necessary to use the expandable foam, but you can if you wish.
If the area of the fence needing repair is not very dirty, you can simply wipe the area down with a damp cloth, or use the gentle soapy water for more stubborn dirt. Rinse thoroughly and make sure the area is dry before moving on to the next step.
Using a medium grit sandpaper (80), smooth out any rough edges and sand around the damaged area. Do NOT use a power sander, as you will only cause more damage. Wipe clean with a damp cloth and let dry thoroughly.
Using the long nozzle provided with the can of expandable foam, start at the back of the hole and slowly fill it. GO SLOWLY and allow the foam to expand beyond the hole and the surface of the vinyl fencing. Let dry overnight.
Using a fine tooth saw that is held flat against the surface of the vinyl fencing, cut the protruding expandable foam as flush to the vinyl fence as possible.
With medium grit sandpaper (80), smooth the expandable foam and make the repair area of your vinyl fencing slightly concave. Wipe away the dust from sanding with a tack cloth.
Using a putty knife, fill the repair area with plastic filler, and smooth it out to make it flush with the rest of the vinyl fencing. Allow the plastic filler to dry overnight, or per the manufacturer’s recommendations.
With your fine grit sandpaper (180), smooth out your plastic filler and feather the edges. Again, remove the dust with a tack cloth.
Using a spray paint that is approved for plastic, paint the repair area to match the vinyl fencing. You may also choose to clear coat that area. Let dry and your repair is complete!
